About Michelle Simpson

Michelle Simpson is a Concept-Based Inquiry and Mathematics Specialist with more than 30 years of experience in education. She has taught in New Zealand, Oman, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates and Sudan, and has held senior leadership roles including Director of Teaching and Learning, Elementary Principal and Head of Primary.

Michelle is an independent Erickson and Lanning CBCI Certified Trainer and a consultant with Professional Learning International. Her work brings together expertise in concept-based curriculum and instruction, mathematics education, curriculum development, professional learning and school leadership.

She works with schools to create coherent curriculum progressions, strengthen collaborative planning and support teachers in translating conceptual thinking into effective classroom practice. Michelle is particularly interested in how cognitive science can inform learning designed for understanding, transfer and long-term retention.
